A submental fat-reduction injection in which cholic acid dissolves the membrane of fat cells, NUVIJU, an injection for reducing under-chin fat
Body Lifting group · designed personally by Dr. Kyungeun Lee

With cholic acid rather than deoxycholic acid dissolves the membranes of fat cells helps the body clear them out
NUVIJU is a submental fat-reducing injection whose main ingredient is cholic acid, a type of bile acid. The surfactant action of cholic acid, which binds water and oil together, disrupts the membrane of fat cells and breaks them down, and the remaining fat is gradually eliminated through the body's clearance process. Cholic acid was chosen instead of the deoxycholic acid used in conventional fat-reducing injections, in order to reduce the burden of swelling, bruising and pain after treatment; the formulation's pH is adjusted to be close to that of the body, and additives such as benzyl alcohol and benzethonium chloride are not included.
How cholic acid acts on fat cellsNUVIJU— three principles
01 Cholic Acid
Cholic acid, the bile acid the body uses to digest fat
Cholic acid is a primary bile acid produced in the liver, a substance the body uses to digest dietary fat. Deoxycholic acid, used in conventional fat-reduction injections, is a secondary bile acid formed when gut bacteria modify cholic acid; NUVIJU uses cholic acid itself, the earlier-stage compound.
02 Membrane
It dissolves the membranes of fat cells and breaks the cells down
The membrane of a fat cell is made of phospholipids, which have both water-loving and oil-loving properties. Cholic acid, through a surfactant action that binds water and oil at once, disrupts the structure of this membrane; fat cells with a damaged membrane break down and are cleared through the body's natural elimination process.
03 Formulation
A formulation designed to reduce swelling · bruising · pain
After comparing a number of candidate substances, Medytox selected cholic acid, which can reduce swelling and bruising after the procedure. The formulation’s acidity was adjusted to be close to the body’s pH to lower pain and irritation during injection, and benzyl alcohol and benzethonium chloride, which may cause allergies or skin irritation, were not included.
How DER AaN Cheongdam works with NUVIJU We assess the fat, define the area, and plan the number of sessions
SEEChecking under-chin fat and skin laxity
First we determine whether the submental fullness comes from fat, from skin laxity, or from the structure of the jaw. We check the amount and thickness of the fat along with skin elasticity.
PLANPlanning of injection area, number of sessions and intervals
The injection area and points are determined according to how the under-chin fat is distributed. The number of sessions and intervals are decided at the consultation, taking into account the amount of fat and your response after treatment.
TREATInjections and recovery guidance by the doctor herself
Dr. Kyungeun Lee performs the injections herself, checking the anatomy of the submental area. After the procedure, we explain how to manage swelling and bruising over the following days and when the next session should be.

These are the questions we are asked most often in consultations, such as pain, recovery, number of sessions and combining treatments. The answers may vary depending on your amount of fat and skin condition.
Does the NUVIJU treatment hurt?
A fine needle is used to inject at several points under the skin beneath the chin. The formulation's pH is matched closely to that of the body to reduce stinging during injection, and topical anesthetic cream or cooling can be added beforehand if needed. The tingling sensation after the procedure usually subsides within a few days, though pain sensitivity varies from person to person.
How long do swelling and bruising last?
Swelling, bruising, a firm feeling or tingling may occur at the injection site, and these usually subside within a few days to a week. Cholic acid was chosen to reduce the burden of swelling and bruising, but responses vary with the amount of fat and the injected area, so avoid saunas, alcohol and vigorous rubbing massage for a few days after the procedure.
How many NUVIJU sessions are needed, and at what intervals?
The number of sessions and the intervals between them depend on the amount of submental fat and on how you respond to the treatment, so they are decided during your consultation. Rather than addressing all of the fat at once, the treatment is usually divided into several sessions a few weeks apart, with the next session scheduled after the swelling from the previous one has subsided.
When do the effects of NUVIJU become visible?
Because it takes time for the broken-down fat cells to be cleared, the area under the chin tends to feel lighter gradually over several weeks rather than right after the procedure. Changes build up with each session, and results vary with the amount of fat and individual response.
Who is NUVIJU suitable for?
We recommend it for those whose jawline has become blurred by fat pooling between the chin and neck, and for those whose under-chin fat remains even after weight loss. If a prominent under-chin area is caused not by fat but by skin laxity or jaw structure, lifting or another approach may suit you better than NUVIJU, so we distinguish this first at the consultation. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an infection or inflammation in the treatment area, the procedure is postponed.
How is it different from conventional fat-dissolving injections?
Most submental fat-reduction injections on the market use deoxycholic acid as their main ingredient, while NUVIJU uses cholic acid, the bile acid that precedes it. Both belong to the same family in that they dissolve the membrane of fat cells, but cholic acid was chosen to reduce reactions such as swelling and bruising; the formulation's pH is matched closely to that of the body, and it contains no benzyl alcohol or benzethonium chloride.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
If the skin is left loose as fat decreases, tightening treatments such as body lifting (ONDA), thread lifting, or Ultherapy can be planned together. Whether to perform them on the same day or with an interval is decided based on your skin condition and the degree of swelling.
What should I be careful about after the procedure?
On the day of the procedure, do not touch or rub the injection site firmly, and avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise for a few days. If swelling lasts a long time, or if your skin changes color or feels numb, please let the clinic know right away. Nerves run beneath the chin, so it is important to be treated by a medical professional who understands the anatomy.
Results and how long they last may differ depending on individual skin condition, and our medical staff will explain possible side effects during the consultation.
