Your own collagen, filled in from within The skin creates collagen on its own, it gets better as time goes by
Sculptra is a collagen booster that injects biodegradable PLLA (Poly-L-lactic acid) microparticles into the deep layers of the skin to stimulate the production of your own collagen. A study reported a 66.5% increase in Type 1 collagen three months after treatment.
The changes Sculptra brings Three Stages of Collagen Remodeling
01 Deep
Starting in the deep layers of the skin
PLLA microparticles settle in the deep dermal layer, and immediately after injection the fluid injected along with them creates volume. Once that fluid is absorbed, the volume decreases for a while.
02 Stimulate
PLLA breaks down and stimulates collagen
As PLLA gradually breaks down, it stimulates fibroblasts so that new collagen strands are formed. Improvement starts to become visible from around 6 weeks and is most noticeable at about 3 months.
03 Restore
Skin texture and volume are gradually restored
PLLA breaks down into water and carbon dioxide and does not remain in the body, while the collagen that has formed stays behind to maintain volume and firmness.
How DER AaN Cheongdam works with Sculptra We assess the face shape, decide the amount, and treat in stages
SEEAssessing face shape · volume loss
Because this treatment requires anticipating collagen formation, we first assess your face shape and skin type.
PLANPlanning of injection depth, amount and number of sessions
Excessive volume can cause nodules. We determine the depth and amount for each area and divide it over 2–3 sessions.

These are the questions we are asked most often during consultations. Answers may vary depending on your individual skin condition.
How much does Sculptra cost?
The cost of Sculptra varies with the number of vials used, the treatment areas and the number of sessions. After assessing your facial shape and the degree of volume loss, we determine the amount and number of sessions needed and explain them during the consultation.
How is Sculptra different from fillers?
With fillers, the injected gel itself creates volume, whereas with Sculptra the PLLA microparticles break down and stimulate your own collagen production, filling in gradually. The volume seen right after injection comes from the water injected with it, so it decreases briefly once absorbed and then fills in again as collagen is produced.
When do Sculptra results appear, and how long do they last?
Improvement begins to show from around 6 weeks and becomes clearer at about 3 months. A study reported a 66.5% increase in Type 1 collagen 3 months after treatment, and because the collagen that has formed remains even after the PLLA has broken down, results generally last about 1 to 2 years, though this can vary from person to person.
How many Sculptra sessions do I need?
The treatment is usually divided into 2–3 sessions. Injecting a large amount at once can cause nodules, so after the first session we observe the skin's response and progress and adjust the depth and amount for the second and third sessions; the intervals are decided during consultation.
Can Sculptra cause side effects such as bruising or nodules?
Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness may occur at the injection site, and most subside within a few days. Nodules can occur when an excessive amount collects in one spot, so the depth and amount are planned separately for each area, and we explain the post-procedure massage method so it settles evenly.
Can I have Sculptra together with Ultherapy or thread lifting?
They can be planned together. Sculptra fills lost volume while Ultherapy or thread lifting lifts sagging — because their roles differ, the order and timing are decided during consultation according to your facial condition.
Results and how long they last may differ depending on individual skin condition, and our medical staff will explain possible side effects during the consultation.
