SKINVIVE is a skin booster from Allergan Aesthetics, the maker of JUVÉDERM. A clear gel of 12 mg/mL cross-linked hyaluronic acid with lidocaine added to reduce pain is placed in the dermis of the cheeks in very small droplets. Unlike fillers that change facial shape or volume, it focuses on replenishing the moisture environment inside the skin to add skin hydration, smoothness and radiance.

01 Microdroplet
Evenly across the whole cheek, in very small droplets
A small amount of about 0.01-0.05 mL at a time is divided at 0.5-1 cm intervals. Because it spreads evenly across the whole cheek without clumping in one place, the facial contour is left as is and only the skin texture is refined.
02 Dermis
In the dermal layer that governs skin texture
The dermis holds collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and the fibroblasts that make them. As dermal hyaluronic acid decreases with age, skin becomes rough and dull, and SKINVIVE replenishes hyaluronic acid in exactly this dermal layer.
03 Collagen
The hyaluronic acid placed wakes up the fibroblasts
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid placed in the dermis stimulates surrounding fibroblasts to multiply, and the increased fibroblasts make new collagen. The principle is that it does not stop at replenishing moisture but helps the skin build its own foundation.

These are the questions we receive most often at consultations, such as pain, recovery, number of sessions and differences from other procedures. The answer can differ depending on your individual skin condition.
Is the SKINVIVE procedure painful?
The gel contains lidocaine and a very fine 32G needle is used, so the procedure often feels like a sting. Numbing cream can be added before the procedure if needed, and how much pain you feel varies from person to person.
When can I feel the effects of SKINVIVE?
Because it replenishes moisture in the dermis, many people notice moist, smooth cheeks relatively early once the swelling settles, and skin texture settles evenly over time. The degree of change and how long it lasts vary from person to person with skin condition and lifestyle.
How long do swelling and bruising last after the procedure?
Redness, swelling, small bruises and mild lumpiness may appear at the injection sites, and they usually settle within a few days. On the day of the procedure, avoid makeup and vigorous face washing, and it is best to refrain from saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise for a few days.
How many sessions of SKINVIVE, and at what interval?
After the first procedure, we watch progress for about a month and add partial touch-ups if needed, then set the timing of the next procedure by looking at your skin condition. The number of sessions, interval and cost vary with the area of the cheeks and the amount used, so we advise at the consultation.
Who is SKINVIVE suited for?
Recommended for those whose cheek skin is dull and rough so makeup does not sit well, and those whose fine lines are beginning to form on the cheeks. If hollow cheeks or sagging is your concern, a filler, collagen booster or lifting may suit better, so we distinguish this first at the consultation. It is postponed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have inflammation at the treatment site.
How is it different from fillers?
Fillers use hyaluronic acid gel to fill the shape and volume of hollow areas. SKINVIVE is also hyaluronic acid, but it is evenly divided into the dermal layer in very small droplets, leaving the face shape unchanged and refining cheek skin texture and fine lines.
How is it different from other skin boosters such as Rejuran and Juvelook?
Rejuran builds a skin regeneration environment with PN, and Juvelook stimulates collagen production with PDLLA. SKINVIVE fills the moisture environment of the dermis with cross-linked hyaluronic acid to add smoothness. We choose one or design them together according to your concern.
Can I have it together with other procedures?
It can be designed together with lifting such as Ultherapy or Thermage, or with other skin boosters. Whether to do them on the same day or space them out is decided by your skin condition and swelling.
