RYTIDE SHOT is a PLLA mono thread made for the eye area. When extremely fine 12 mm threads held in a 31G needle are placed densely crosswise to the eye wrinkles, collagen gradually forms along where the threads sit, supporting the thinned skin from within. In areas that never stop moving, such as the eyelids, filling volume with a liquid injection tends to clump or look unnatural, so the same PLLA ingredient is placed in the form of a solid thread.

How RYTIDE SHOT treats the eye area Eye area Solid collagen— three principles

  1. Diagram of the direction of threads placed crosswise to the eye-area wrinkles · Courtesy of CAREIS
    01 Reinforce

Not following the wrinkles, but crossing them

Fine lines around the eyes deepen as the same spots fold with every smile and blink. When short threads are placed crosswise to the direction of the wrinkles, the folding force is dispersed rather than concentrated in one place, and the threads act as reinforcement supporting the thin skin.

    02 Depth

Shallow and gentle, in the layer just below the dermis

Fibroblasts that make collagen are abundant in the dermis and the boundary just beneath it. The thread is placed at a low angle with a light touch so it does not reach the muscle layer, letting it settle in the layer just below the dermis.

    03 Safety

Short, light threads, pointing away from the eye

The thread is 12 mm long and USP 7-0 in thickness, made short and light so it is not dragged around when the muscles move. The needle is always inserted pointing outward from the eye, and the thread settles in place within the tissue right away and then slowly dissolves.

How DER AaN handles RYTIDE SHOT Reading the wrinkle direction, setting the spacing, and placing each thread one by one

  1. SEEChecking eye-area wrinkles · skin thickness

We first look at where wrinkles fold when you smile and when you rest, and how thin the eye-area skin is. If under-eye sagging is also present, we separate the cause first.

  2. PLANDesigning insertion direction · spacing · number of threads

We draw where the threads will go and their spacing, crosswise to the wrinkles. If there is sagging, we also decide the order with full-face lifting.

  3. TREATThe director inserts each thread personally, one by one

After numbing cream, threads are placed one by one with a 31G needle, and the needle always points away from the eye. Dr. Kyungeun Lee performs the procedure personally.

Questions RYTIDE SHOT Q&A

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions we receive most often at consultations, such as pain, recovery, number of sessions and differences from other procedures. The answer can differ depending on your individual skin thickness and wrinkle condition.

Is the RYTIDE SHOT procedure painful?
After numbing cream, the threads are placed with a very fine 31G needle, so it often feels like a sting and light pricking pressure. The eye area has thin skin and can be more sensitive than other areas, and how much pain you feel varies from person to person.
When can I feel the effects?
Because collagen forms gradually along where the threads sit, you can expect the skin around the eyes to become slightly firmer over weeks to months rather than right after the procedure. The degree of change and how long it lasts vary from person to person with skin thickness, age and lifestyle.
Will swelling or bruising occur after the procedure?
Needle marks, mild swelling and redness may appear, and because the eye area has many blood vessels, bruising can occur. It usually settles within a few days; on the day of the procedure, do not rub or press the eye area hard, and it is best to avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise for a few days.
How many sessions, and at what intervals?
The number of threads placed at one time and the number of sessions depend on the depth of the eye-area wrinkles and skin thickness. We decide on additional sessions and their interval after seeing the change from the first procedure, and advise individually at the consultation. Cost also varies with the area and number of threads, so we advise at the consultation.
Who is it suited for?
Recommended for those whose fine lines under the eyes and at the outer corners stand out when they smile, and those whose eye-area skin has become thin and crinkly. If under-eye fat bulges or the skin is very loose, threads alone have limits and other methods may be recommended first. It is postponed if there is inflammation at the treatment site or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How is it different from eye-area fillers or skin boosters?
Fillers fill hollow areas with gel, and skin boosters add moisture and regenerative ingredients to the skin by injection. RYTIDE SHOT places PLLA in the form of solid threads crosswise to the wrinkles, helping collagen form at that spot. In areas that keep moving, such as the eyelids, it focuses on supporting the skin rather than adding volume.
Is it the same as thread lifting?
Both are thread procedures, but their purposes differ. Facial thread lifting uses barbed threads to pull sagging tissue upward, whereas RYTIDE SHOT is closer to a collagen booster that places short, barbless mono threads densely around the eyes to support the skin. When sagging that pulls the eye area downward is significant, the two procedures may be designed together.
Can I have it together with other procedures?
It can be designed together with procedures that address sagging across the whole face, such as Ultherapy or thread lifting, or with an eye-area skin booster. Whether to do them on the same day or space them out is decided by your skin condition and degree of swelling.

Results and how long they last may differ depending on individual skin condition, and our medical staff will explain possible side effects during the consultation.
